Frequently Asked
For car owners
Do I need an app?
No. Tapping a HeritageTag badge opens a normal web page in your phone's browser. Nothing to download, nothing to install.
Will it work with my phone?
Any modern iPhone or Android with NFC will open the page on a tap. If a phone can't tap, the printed QR code on the badge opens the same page.
What if my phone doesn't tap, or NFC is turned off?
Every badge has a printed QR code as a backup. Point the camera at it and you'll land on the exact same page.
Do I need an account?
No. Your page is protected by a 4-digit PIN you choose, plus a recovery email in case you forget it. There's no login to create and no password to remember.
How do I set up my car's page?
Tap your own badge. Enter a recovery email, choose which sections you want (photos, story, specs, history, and more), fill them in, set a 4-digit PIN, and publish. Most owners finish in a few minutes on their phone — or you can continue on a computer using a link we email you.
Can I edit my page later?
Anytime. Tap your badge (or use the edit link we email you), enter your PIN, and make changes. Updates appear instantly.
What information shows on my page?
Only what you choose to add. By default we show your first name only — never your address, and never a price. You decide which sections appear.
Is my page private?
Your page lives at a unique, unguessable web address, so it isn't listed or searchable — but anyone you share the link with can view it. Only you can edit it, with your PIN.
What if I forget my PIN?
Enter your recovery email and we'll send you a one-time link to set a new one. No one — not even our team — can see your PIN.
Can I show that my car is for sale?
Yes. You can add a simple "For Sale" mark. There's no price field — interested buyers talk to you in person at the show.
I sold the car. Can the new owner take it over?
Yes. Change the recovery email to the new owner's, and they reset the PIN to make the page theirs. No paperwork, no account transfer, and the old email no longer has access.
Does the badge need batteries or charging?
No. The NFC chip is powered by the tap itself — no battery, no wiring, nothing to charge.
For shows & clubs
Can I order badges in bulk for my event or club?
Yes — bulk orders for shows and associations are exactly what HeritageTag is built for. We mint and program every badge and group them under your event's name.
Can the artwork be customized for our show or club?
Yes. The badge artwork can be tailored to your event or association. The page experience and features are identical across every badge.
Do we have to program the badges ourselves?
No. Each badge arrives programmed and ready — owners just tap to claim and set up their car.
How do we keep track of which badges went where?
You get a simple dashboard: create badges in a batch under your show's name, copy each badge's link, mark which are programmed, and see counts for created, claimed, and live pages at a glance.
What happens after an owner gets a badge?
They tap it, set up their car's page in a few minutes, and publish. You can support owners from the dashboard — for example, resending a PIN-reset link — without ever seeing their PIN.
